Project 4 Reflection Journal

Brandon Wilson Project #3 Reflection Journal Visual Design          Doing this project was a ton of fun and allowed me to express my creativity. I was able to make logos how I wanted to and the design was all up to me. I made these logos first from a drawing. The drawing was then implemented into the computer with my own designs. I recreated all of my 9 hand drawn logos into adobe illustrator. I used tools like the pen tool and various shape tools. I also made curves using the pen tool. These tools were very helpful into making my digital logos as accurate as possible to my hand drawn ones. A web designer would need to know how to do this in order to fully express how they want their work to look and match one that is previously being shown. If they get a job to make something digital from something in reality, it would be very helpful to know how to utilize tools like these to do so.

WBL Workshop #6 Interview Skills

WBL Workshop #6 was about testing our interviewing skills. First thing that happened was us entering the room without knowing that we were going to be interviewed. So as a student you could say some of us were surprised about it. There were different people interviewing students that took place during this workshop. Students were set at different "stations" of people who would interview you. I was a little confused at first about what the interview would be about and what job we were actually being interviewed for to represent a mock interview. Then I realized that a perfect job for the situation would be something revolving around being a web designer. When it was my turn to be interviewed I wasn't nervous because I had some pre-answers in my head for obvious answers.               During the interview I kept looking toward the top right, for no apparent reason. I feel like I should have been looking at the employe...

Lab #16 Reflection

This lab was very short and simple. The objective was to copy our article we had made previously before beginning the lab and put it in in-design with a pull quote. And that is exactly what I did. I took my previously typed article about evolution from google docs and pasted the text into in-design with the text tool. I separated it into 3 columns to cover more of the page. To make the pull quote I took some text that stood out in my article and made it in a separate text box in bold and quotes. By doing this, I learned how to make pull quotes to enhance a news article by make an important thing stand out by quoting it out from the rest. In the future this skill will be useful for wanting to grab a reader's attention in a news article of any kind. I think pull quotes should not be randomly picked out but picked because it stands out from the rest of the text and something you may want the reader to ponder about. I also resubmitted the lab because I for...

Project 7 Newsletter

Project 7 was to make a newsletter from your article and from articles of your team members. We were put in teams of 4, however one of our members had undergone something so we were left with 3. Determined and a little disappointed, we still continued and made up for the work that we had to do. Our topic was science. My article was about evolution and the evidences used to prove it. The cover page was made with the intention of catching the young scientist's eye. We used visuals of fossils, the sky (astronomy), and evolution. The info was what we previously typed in the pull quote lab. We had pull quotes, images, bylines, bodies, headlines and either a decker or kicker. We did this because it was what was needed to be included into a news article and a news article isn't complete without having all of its components. By doing this project I learned all of the components required for a news article, gained a better sense of organization and how to manag...

Project 6 Yearbook

Project 6 Yearbook is a project that revolves around making a yearbook representing the web design academy. We as web designers had to use our skills of different programs we had like In-design in order to make a yearbook. We were divided into teams of 4. My group and I had generated ideas of making different things like having the names, zodiac signs, and a quote from each and every student. We added pictures of things we during our time in web design so far. This includes the CTE Expo and one of our trips which was to the museum. Other pages had pictures of our classmates in the academy and pages for autographs. We had to also make a Swift file of it as well with a page flip animation, resembling an actual book. We did this to make and resemble an actual yearbook to represent the past experiences we have had so far in the web design academy. By doing this project I have learned that making a book requires a lot of laying out things and having it organ...
