WBL Workshop #4

Brandon Wilson WBL Workshop #4      In this workshop what we did was discover our own career DNA. The most important points of this workshop were find our dynamic natural abilities using the Holland Interest Code, career party and games you play, people, date things, our top three interests, RIASEC and career cluster interest survey. We basically used all of these in order to find what careers we may be interested in, and to release the stress of deciding what to major in collage. It asks us several questions that would help determine which careers we may be interested in following. These skills are important for a web designer because it allows for them to set their mind on what they really want to do with their skills. They can decide early what career they want to pursue within their ability and what they would enjoy doing the most.

WBL Workshop #3

Brandon Wilson WBL Workshop #3      In this workshop what we did was go over child labor laws and workplace safety. It's purpose was to educate us students in what rights we have as workers and the work space environment we are to be in. The most important points of this workshop were labor laws for minors and workplace safety for young workers. Under labor laws for minors covers employment certificates/working papers, NYS hours and days of employment, workers compensation and disability insurance, and memorandum of agreement. Workplace safety covers you have rights at work, your employer has responsibilities, ways to stay safe at the job, hazardous occupations - "18 under 18", safety training, sexual harassment, violence in the work space, and NYS driving laws. These skills are important for a web designer because they need to know what rights they have within the work space, and the safety that the workplace has to uphold for them. Knowing these things allow for a we...

Lab #HOC

Brandon Wilson Lab # HOC In this lab, we were to create a solar system-like model using HTML and JavaScript. It needed to include something to represent the sun, the moon, a planet, and a star around the planet. Using JavaScript, we were to make the planet move constantly around an orbit, continuously as well as the star around the planet. The sun was to be in the middle while the moon somewhere around the planet as well. We were also suppose to have a short description of ourselves and what we think creativity is somewhere to the bottom of the page. The goal behind this lab was mainly just using JavaScript to make the solar system-like model move after the page loaded. Web designers would need to know how to do this in order to use JavaScript more fluently by allowing users to experience the most out of their website. Using animations through JavaScript could be a way of showing others, you know what your doing, and that your using your coding skills in an advanced manner.

The Cost of Free

When I hear the title, The Cost of Free, I get the idea that there is a downside to some things being free. This means that there are drawbacks to using free products or apps. I would explain The Cost of Free to someone I just met in 60 seconds by being general about free things. I would say something like using free apps may have the benefit of being free but don't keep your privacy safe within its margins. An app that takes personal information and is paid would be most likely more trustworthy then a free app that wants you to input personal information. I would install a free app to see if it has a privacy or data policy of any kind. If it did then it would be ok to trust. If not, then it wouldn't be secure enough for others to trust. Since in this case I'm not using an app, but instead a website, I'll use google for example. The website's main page looks fairly simple when it comes to styling. It has a white background but has many features to it which makes it ...
