WBL Workshop #3

In this workshop what we did was go over child labor laws and workplace safety. It's purpose was to educate us students in what rights we have as workers and the work space environment we are to be in. The most important points of this workshop were labor laws for minors and workplace safety for young workers. Under labor laws for minors covers employment certificates/working papers, NYS hours and days of employment, workers compensation and disability insurance, and memorandum of agreement. Workplace safety covers you have rights at work, your employer has responsibilities, ways to stay safe at the job, hazardous occupations - "18 under 18", safety training, sexual harassment, violence in the work space, and NYS driving laws. These skills are important for a web designer because they need to know what rights they have within the work space, and the safety that the workplace has to uphold for them. Knowing these things allow for a web designer to be more knowledgeable of being an intern, or getting a job in any scenario.
