Comparing PNG / JPG / RAW / and gif

PNG, JPG, RAW, TIFF and gif are all different file formats that are used to save photos.

RAW files are processed directly from the camera's sensor thus they do not use compression. These images are in extremely high quality due to them being lossless. Lots of more qualities are shown like the shades of color, better representation of white balance, contrast, exposure and lots more. If you change RAW files they don't get messed up. The metadata, which controls the rendering, is changed but the original data of the file is not messed up.


 Used by most digital cameras as their normal format, JPEG is the most common file type which can be used online or for hard prints. Its lossy compression algorithm removes minute details that your eye is least likely to notice to save space. However, the compression ratio is adjustable so you can select the level of quality you want in your image. The high quality is great since you would have a smaller file size. In general, the compression is enough to provide a reasonably high-quality image without worrying too much about the file size. This makes it more easier to manage and play around with your pictures because of its small size. 

PNG, originally created as an improved replacement for GIF, is a popular format used by photographers and graphic designers. That’s because the format supports lossless data compression, which means a lot of information is retained when you save and reopen your images. PNG files can be also be shared on the web. It contains alot of data that is compressed into one file which is beneficial. 

The photos that you can see moving are very special. Most of these files use the GIF format. It is great for graphics and visuals with animation. Web designers and graphic artists also often use them to create sharp-eyed line artworks such as simple logos and banners. Extreme data compression considerably the size of GIF files, allowing them to load quickly in the web. They are the only type of photo file that can move which allows a lot of creativity to be set into motion.

TIFF is a lossless file format which is used among graphic artists, photographers, and publishers. The information is retained in layers, which depends on how you save the file. It is also a favorite of printers because there is no loss in quality when the image is printed. When you print out things using a TIFF file you get the best out of the quality. TIFF is also supported by various photo editing applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Photomatix, Google Nik, and more. It is one of the best kind of file for using these applications.

          WBL Workshop #6 was about testing our interviewing skills. First thing that happened was us entering the room without knowing that we were going to be interviewed. So as a student you could say some of us were surprised about it. There were different people interviewing students that took place during this workshop. I was a little confused at first about what the interview would be about and what job we were actually being interviewed for to represent a mock interview. CTE Expo Reflection Journal

     The objective of the CTE EXPO was to engage the freshmen into seeing what the Web Design Academy was made of and what were the benefits of joining. It was also to make their interests peak as they could be exposed to these special skills.  To prepare for the CTE EXPO I just ran through looking for my best business attire I possibly had because I knew how important this event was, During the actual event I grabbed freshmen attention by saying, "hello are you interested in learning more about the visual design part of the CTE academy?" I used that line pretty much all the time to get the attention of the freshmen who looked lost or confused. I think what went well was that most of the freshmen, all the ones I met with, had an interest in the subject because of the amount of questions they asked and how detailed their questions were. Lab #12 Reflection

This lab was fun to learn but a little difficult at first. If you were learning adobe illustrator for the first time and had to do something with it, you would have a lot of trouble if you weren't reading the tutorials or listening to them. At first for me personally it was a little hard trying to figure out what to do. I go to the lab pretty much every day on my free period. Lunch personally is boring for me. Let's get back on topic. I took my time to read the tutorial for adobe illustrator again and absorb what I read. I did the extra reading to scan what I needed to complete the lab and what skills were needed to complete it. Though I wish I can post my work here, I really can't due to the fact it is saved in a pdf file. At first the file was in an .ai file but since I had to submit it in for a grade it was transferred into a pdf file for viewing purposes. It was something we learned from reviewing adobe illustrator.
