Lab #12 Reflection

This lab was fun to learn but a little difficult at first. If you were learning adobe illustrator for the first time and had to do something with it, you would have a lot of trouble if you weren't reading the tutorials or listening to them. At first for me personally it was a little hard trying to figure out what to do. I go to the lab pretty much every day on my free period. Lunch personally is boring for me. Let's get back on topic. I took my time to read the tutorial for adobe illustrator again and absorb what I read. I did the extra reading to scan what I needed to complete the lab and what skills were needed to complete it. Though I wish I can post my work here, I really can't due to the fact it is saved in a pdf file. At first the file was in an .ai file but since I had to submit it in for a grade it was transferred into a pdf file for viewing purposes. It was something we learned from reviewing adobe illustrator. Adobe illustrator wasn't that hard to learn. The basic tools like the pen tool can be used to create lines and then you can edit them in many ways through the properties panel and other options.  Our selection tools were useful as well for manipulating certain areas of my work.  In this lab particularly, I had to do a quiz on the review I was reading in the document. They had certain figures that I had to make and put the skills I learned to the test. So if you skipped the reading, you basically wouldn't understand how to do anything. However when I did forget something, I would go look for the section I needed to review more. The first shape was a circle with lines intersecting inside of it. Though, they did not connect together, the lines didn't touch the circle. They were close though, but didn't touch. To do that I used the pen tool and also the eclipse tool. It was very simple and easy to do. The next thing I had to do was make a dashed line with specific setting given to me. It was very simple too, but took a while to find the setting for the line. The next thing was to make a square and to reform it by using the "direct selection tool". I grabbed it by an edge and dragged it to make it look like a figure with 4 sides that looked like an arrow. I also made another one and connected then for the last instruction on the work. Then I had to make a custom figure using my knowledge of adobe illustrator. I used the pen tool and the star tool. Also I added some extra colors for different sides of the star. I modified the color of the "fill" option to fill in the color of the star's sides. Then I used bold, italic text with the text tool to make a big "W" and place it in the center along with small text under it saying "raith". It is suppose to spell out "Wraith" in a cool way. It was the name that my brother gave me to work with and I like it a lot. It is a very adaptive name I can use for the name of a game company or something for the business card project that we will have in class. After all this work, I am proud to say that I learned a lot. I have never used adobe illustrator before until this day. It is great to open yourself to new experiences. A web designer definitely would need these skills in order to be successful. Especially for a company, these adobe illustrator skills will be helpful when making custom logos and banners of some sort. Web designers can be very creative by fully utilizing their workspace and learn more about it. It is a big this to know, so if they don't, well I wouldn't know what to tell them.
