In this workshop, we discussed the fundamentals of why, what and where of WBL. We reviewed why we need WBL, which is mainly because it gives students the opportunity to learn skills in the classroom, with valuable hands-on work experiences. It is also a requirement to earn a CTE endorsement on your high school diploma. We also discussed the CTE graduation requirements which include CTE instruction, CFM, internships, workshops and events, CTE expo, industry certification, employ ability profile and service and volunteer. In addition the WBL requirements consist of a WBL application, discipline policy, confidentiality agreement, working papers, jupiter grades documentation, employ ability profile, reflections, forms, applications, and other requirements. We had also discussed where the WBL experiences would take place. Some places include, in-school workshops, events and guest speakers, job shadowing and training and internships. We also had a guest presenter who spoke about futures and options. His name was Jacques Onanga. He gave opportunities to us as students to take three programs. One was career essentials, another was the internship program and the other was the fall financial internship program. They were all a great opportunity for us to gain some experience and knowledge of a workplace and preparing students for the job environment. Some skills a web designer may need from this would be being familiar with how a workplace is organized, how to act in the manner of an interview, and also instruction on how to write a resume.
