Emoti-Con 2019 - Project Xeno
The emoticon for 2019 was amazing! Me and the rest of team Kakushin, the developers of Project Xeno, had went to present our game there. It was a big place and there was food too! When we got there, we were given time to go around and look at other people's projects and development processes. When me and my team went around, we saw many different games, inventions using robotics and even VR! I was saying in my head that the competition was going to outweigh our project. Turns out I was wrong, but I'll get to that later. After the grace period, we were all gathered to sit in the auditorium-like area. We were assigned to make a bridge using the tools assigned to us in a black bag. We had popsicle sticks, strings, tape and etc. Our bridge was fully made of the string and it was very wavy. I doubt anyone would want to travel on the bridge we created. They would probably fall over into the river. Anyways, back to the experience, there was then a period where judges would come around to check our project boards and the game n general. While my team was wandering around looking at other projects, I stayed at the board in case a judge came by. There were a few judges that came by and I had though-roughly explained our project while they played it. Considering you don't really "interact" much with the game, while the dialogue played, I was able to go over some key concepts about our game in that time. Most of the judges that came by played the entire game through and enjoyed the story. I had went over that we had taken a negative perspective of the future and that technology would take over humanity eventually and become self aware. There are a lot of concepts in the game and theoretical physics too. At the end of the judges walking around observing projects, there was a period where we were able to go around and ask some of the professionals about their category of work. The section I went to was the gaming one. I met some game developers and it was exciting since I want to become one when I gain the experience. After that period, there was the award ceremony. Little did we know, that the most entertaining prize would go to us! Project Xeno! Me and the rest of team Kakushin were excited because we had won a trophy and a medal for each of us. A game that we put so much story in and 10% of it was interactive... It was unbelievable, but it happened. It was a wonderful experience and I enjoyed it. The emoticon for 2019 was lit!
